Currently seeking an Intermediate Communications Consultant
Contract: 24 weeks
Position Summary Description
Our client is looking for a consultant to:
  • Conduct content assessments and build content and asset inventories of sites for content planning.
  • Review and edit existing web page content and metadata tag information.
  • Accurately add or edit descriptive keywords, captions, titles and categories for content objects, web pages, images, videos and other web assets.
  • Write new, user-friendly content for Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces (DND/CAF) intranet sites.
  • Analyze existing web pages and synthesize and re-write content for migration to the new DND/CAF intranet.
  • Meet with web content owners to discuss and provide advice and expertise on how to best modify their content for the intranet and internet.
  • Report and track progress on the re-writing of web content.
  • Collaborate with teams and coordinate communication products.
Project Tasks
Requirements / experience (mandatories)
  • Secondary school diploma
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience
Asset Qualifications:
  • A certificate, diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a relevant field, or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience may be required
Must clearly demonstrate minimum of 3 year of experience within the last 4 years in the following:
  • Create, validate and organize digital content as well as meet with clients to identify communications and content requirements.
Must clearly demonstrate minimum of 1 year of experience within the last 2 years in the following:
  • Analyse, write, edit, and synthesize content as well as develop metadata content for websites using plain language and the style guide.
  • Experience in Web Accessibility and Standards on Web Interoperability.
Must clearly demonstrate minimum of 6 months within the last 1 year in the following:
  • Provide advice related to the Government of Canada communications policies and Treasury Board Standards as well as the production and publishing of web content.
  • Demonstrate web (Internet/Intranet) writing styles, best practices, writing to optimize search results, metadata standards, information organization, cataloguing rules, imagery requirements and the use of Web content management systems.
